Darling Harbour can be a controversial area of town. Some think it’s a great place to visit, other locals tend to avoid the area completely.

Everyone’s got their own theories on how the area could be improved, so what would you do to better the Darling Harbour area, and why?

  1. Get rid of those god-awful choo-choo trains. Or at least limit the amount of them that go past at peak times. It is a pedestrian zone and it makes it so horrible and stressful to walk around there.

  2. I love Darling Harbour! Especially at night, most people go out to the nice restaurants and dress up! So im not sire of any other gorls jave expeienced this, but the old wooden floor boards that encircle the Harbour have very big gaps that make it impossible to walk with heels!!!

  3. It’s not meant to be an upmarket area, but an area for tourists and families.
I would try and get more museums and other cultural buildings into the area, replace the commonwealth bank building with an art gallery or other museum for example.

  4. Put more upmarket paving. Create a shoppingg complex where ‘Harbourside’ is. And oh remove the monorail and replace with a tram.

  5. Replace ent centre and exhibition halls with mixed use devs…6 storeys high..build closer to the water. Make better pedestrian connections with pyrmont. Underground the existing bridges so more pedestrian friendly.

  6. Replace ent centre and exhibition halls with mixed use devs…6 storeys high..build closer to the water. Make better pedestrian connections with pyrmont. Underground the roads.

  7. the convention centre and exibition centre actually draws in alot of people with conventions and different home/leasure shows they hold. i live on darling harbour if they took it away there would be alot less tourists around…i think they need to do something with the old macdonalds there with the little fake park with the brass statue with the sheep thing,
